CLINIQUE CITY BLOCK 25 SPF REVIEW

CLINIQUE CITY BLOCK SHEER 25 SPFPrevention is the key to anti-aging so I always like to wear an SPF as part of my daily skin care/ makeup routine. As I just squeezed the last bit of product I could get out of the CLINIQUE CITY BLOCK SHEER 25 SPF package a review is now due. I’m so glad that I waited and did not review it earlier as this would have been a totally different post. initially I did not like it as it left my skin looking as I’ve just splashed my face in oil, although CITY BLOCK does not contain oil I looked way too shiny, unless I used a mat foundation which I generally do not like. I even tweeted about it and got an apologetic reply from Clinique.

Clinique claims the product to be a sheer, broad-spectrum UVA/UVB daily sunscreen. Lightweight formula helps wick away perspiration and absorb excess oil. Perfect alone or as an invisible makeup primer. No chemical sunscreens. Appropriate for the eye area and sensitive skins.

I agree with all the claims if not used on top of a rich moisturizer, which is where it was going wrong for me. But I must say that although I didn’t like the feel and look when used on top of a moisturizer it never made me breakout.

My skin is normal and often dehydrated not oily, but since I’ve tried CITY BLOCK 25 SPF just on top of eye cream and serum it’s a perfect sunscreen and it offers enough moisture on its on. To me it feels more like a subtle tinted moisturizer due to its colour. It also works very well as a primer, which saves me precious time in the morning. I’m so glad I didn’t ditch it but instead experimented with it. Clinique City Block is indeed a very good product and affordable too at £16 when compared with other brands.

I love trying new products and I’m tempted to try KIEHL’S ULTRA LIGHT DAILY DEFENSE SPF 50 as I’ve read so many good reviews about it, but I think I’ll just save it for when on holiday or for days when I’ll be spending more time outdoors. SPF 25 feels like it’s enough protection for everyday wear in London and for almost half the price from the Kiehl’s Ultra light it’s a no brainer.

CLINIQUE CITY BLOCK is also available with SPF 40

I’ve always loved Clinique and you are absolutely right about SPF, I also incorporate this as part of my routine because I think this is important. Most of the BB creams I own though contain at least 30 to 40 SPF so it’s perfect for my needs.
